Laguna and Newport Trip

Last Monday and Tuesday, my boyfriend Brandan and I decided to drive down to Laguna Beach, CA.  We stayed at an airbnb in Laguna Hills and it was beautiful.  This was a quick two day trip, but well needed and was a perfect weekend getaway until our big Europe trip coming up. We left at 7am in the morning, and got to Laguna by 11:30am.

We decided to head down to this gorgeous restaurant on the beach called The Deck on Laguna Beach, and we sat on the outdoor patio which is located at 627 Sleepy Hollow Ln, Laguna Beach, CA 92651.  This place is adjacent to this restaurant called Driftwood Kitchen.  The weather was gorgeous, and we got a cute two top table right next to the view of the ocean.  I ordered a bloody mary and a kale salad with shrimp.  Delicious! Brandan had an IPA beer and grilled cheese with tomato basil soup. Our bill was decently priced for location, and the food and drinks were worth it.

We checked in to the airbnb, freshened up and we headed to the beach.  We parked in this parking lot that was $2 an hour which isn't bad.  We ended up only spending $6 to be safe.  I find the ocean so calming, so a trip to California is always appreciated.  Nothing beats the sand, sun, and ocean breeze. After spending some time in the sun, we decided to head back, shower, and get ready for dinner.  Our airbnb was only a 10-15 min drive so it was perfect.  We both loved that restaurant and the location so we decided to head back for dinner.  We sat at the patio again, ordered a bottle of Cabernet, and enjoyed a nice cheese platter.  For dinner I had ordered fresh sea bass, and Brandan ordered the pulled pork quesadilla.  We got our bill and we tipped the server more than 20% because he truly deserved it!  Our service was nothing short of amazing. He offered us his favorite dessert so that was a great way to end the night, and we adored that gesture.  The Deck on Laguna Beach knows how to train their staff to be very professional and accommodating to each and every guest.  If you are ever in Laguna Beach, I recommend coming here!

The next day we had packed back up, and headed down to Newport Beach, CA which is one of my favorite beaches in California.  We were on Balboa Island.  Weather, again, was perfect. Sunny and 75 - Joe Nichols for all my country music fans out there! We walked down the beach toward the pier, and then back up to grab a bite until we hit the road back to Vegas.  We ate at the Dory Deli which is located at 2108 W Oceanfront, Newport Beach, CA 92663.  I had the poke bowl with a Pacifico beer and Brandan ordered a hot sandwich called "The Oge" with the Pacific beer. We both enjoyed our meals, watched the sunset, and spoke to the bartenders who were very friendly.  If you are in Newport, I recommend coming here for a quick bite, watch a sports game, and enjoy the sunset. After we ate, we fueled up on gas, and headed back to Vegas. Us Vegas folks always need a mini trip to California, and we are never disappointed when we go!
